Losing Weight with Living Juices

Losing Weight with Living Juices

Many people find that drinking freshly extracted juices (also known as juice fasting because no solid food is used) and using herbal extracts and teas help them lose weight more effectively and keep it off. In juicing, almost 100 percent of the vital nutritive elements of fruits and vegetables are directly assimilated into the bloodstream without putting a strain on the digestive system.

Freshly pressed juices have been used in the last hundred years or so and as such are among the more recently discovered natural healing tools. They are a great source of easily absorbed nutrients and plant essences and have a powerful effect on the body’s recuperative powers. One of the most important aspects of fresh juice therapy is the amount of enzymes the juices make available to the system. Plant food enzymes are the key to life and are extremely valuable on all levels of the healing and rehabilitation process.

According to N.W. Walker, a pioneer in the use of juice therapy in the United States, “The juices extracted from fresh raw vegetables and fruits are the means by which we can furnish all the cells and tissues of the body with the elements and the nutritional enzymes that they need, in the manner in which they can be most readily digested and assimilated” (Walker).

Digestive function, assimilation, and elimination are all assisted by the presence of enzymes. Enzymes help perform many biological processes without energy and without becoming involved in the processes themselves. These enzymes serve as catalysts that help the body go on with its healing.
Six Tips for Weight Loss with Healing Juices
l. Use only freshly extracted juices. Canned and bottled juices are of limited or no value in a juice therapy program because they lack the living enzymes found in fresh extracted juice that are essential to restoring proper digestive function.
2. Drink juices immediately after extracting. Do not refrigerate or store for later use.
3. Use fresh fruits and vegetables. Green vegetables should have full color. Avoid iceberg lettuce, blanched celery, etc.
4. Drink about a pint of juice daily if you are in a healthy state. If you are ill or on a purification program, it may be appropriate to drink sixteen-ounce portions of juice at least two to four times a day. Certain juices seem to have their greatest effect when combined with other juices. Among these are the juice of asparagus, beets and beet greens, dandelion, garlic, horseradish root, lemon, parsley, radish, spinach, and turnips.
5. Add a thermogenic herbal extract to each glass of juice that you drink.
6. Add a teaspoon of Spirulina microalgae to each glass of juice. Spirulina is available in most natural-food stores. It is a powerful balancer for those with impaired digestion. It is easily digested and it is a highly alkaline moderator that balances over-acidic body chemistry, a state that is common in those on high-fat diets.
